Who We Are

About Us

Since 2009, Achieving Collaborative Treatment (ACT) has been serving autistic children and young adults in South Central Wisconsin. We are not only a provider of behavioral therapy, but a partner for you or family as your child grows. We believe every individual is unique and that a therapy program should reflect that. Our expertise in creating a program that incorporates different modalities of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) ensures clinical flexibility in our approach to meet your needs. Research has shown the earlier we can provide appropriate behavioral interventions for children with autism, the better the outcomes, but it has been proven treatment continues to be effective if you start at age 5…or age 25. ACT has an intervention model for you wherever you and your family are on your journey.

Achieving Collaborative Treatment (ACT) provides top-tier behavior analytic services to autistic individuals and their families.

What Is ABA?

ABA stands for Applied Behavior Analysis, otherwise known as the science of learning. Our clinicians employ practices and procedures distilled from a century of research from experimental centers, family homes, schools and clinics to make measurable progress addressing behaviors that are important to you. ABA is the gold standard for reliably, compassionately, and measurably building skills and decreasing problem behavior.

ABA is a science and we begin wherever your child is to develop individualized, evidence-based programming to meet your family’s unique set of needs.  From toilet training to accepting transitions, saying ‘mama’ to playing with a peer, the first day of school to the first paycheck, ABA has been proven to help and ACT clinicians have the experience to support you and your child achieve your goals.

ACT is not driven by a specific curriculum – we draw from various established curricular approaches to create a program that is best for your child, while ensuring everything we do is consistent with the principles and practices of ABA. Our clinicians draw from Verbal Behavior (VB), Discrete Trial Training (DTT), Cognitive Behavior Intervention (CBI), and Social Skills curricula to craft what your child needs right now to move forward in the most impactful and efficient way.

ABA does not lose its effectiveness as a teaching approach – after all it is the science of how we all learn, everything, our entire lives – and ACT doesn’t stop teaching your children when they reach a certain age.  ACT has experience working with adolescents and adults in their homes, places of employment and community settings. If you have an older child who exhibits challenging behavior, or would benefit from focused teaching on pivotal skills impacting their independence, ABA remains the gold standard of treatment.

The State of Wisconsin has deemed ABA one of the only interventions to earn a level 1 rating for proven effectiveness and safety for any individual with an autism spectrum disorder. Please click here to learn more.

Our Mission & Values

We create an exceptional ABA program that is individualized to meet each client’s unique needs and is grounded in compassion, collaboration, and best practice.

Our Vision

We provide medically necessary treatment to all autistic individuals regardless of age and ability. Learning occurs in all environments, and we understand the importance of collaborating with our clients, their families, their schools, and other treatment providers. Collaborative, high quality ABA treatment extends beyond a client’s program to build independence and is an investment in both the individual’s and society’s future.

Our Values

ACT is dedicated to maintaining an organization that values our clients, their families, and our employees. We all bring unique strengths, interests, and perspectives to the table. We believe these differences should be celebrated and strive to incorporate them into the treatment we provide. A truly individualized and effective program is possible when we communicate openly and engage together.

Neurodiversity

ACT prioritizes and values the needs and opinions of neurodivergent people. Our ABA based interventions emphasize functional communication, autonomy, assent, and outcomes that are important to our clients and their families. We embrace differences and support neurodiversity through using positive reinforcement strategies and truly listening about what is important in the lives of those with whom we work. ACT staff are focused on the dignity and well-being of all our clients and their families. We value and incorporate client and family input when developing goals and designing treatment programs.

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI)

ACT is committed to celebrating and embracing the diversity, uniqueness, and autonomy of every client, their family, and our staff. We do this by creating a quality ABA therapy program reflecting the strengths, interests, values, and goals of each client we serve. ACT staff appreciates and strives for open communication and candor across our collaborative process and when working through treatment issues.

We believe in treating and supporting clients, families, and our staff in an equitable and inclusive manner regardless of age, disabilities/abilities, ethnicity, gender expression/identity, immigration status, marital/relationship status, national origin, race, religion, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status, or any other basis. It is critical that all clients, families, and employees feel safe and valued, and are presented with equal opportunity while working with ACT.

In order to support DEI, ACT is committed to providing ongoing education and training to our families, caregivers, and related service staff as well as enabling our employees to achieve their potential through training, empowerment, and personal advancement opportunities.

Our community is better when we all have a role, a voice, a place within it.
