Ongoing Autism Behavior Therapy

Research has shown the earlier we can provide appropriate behavioral interventions for children with autism the better the outcomes, but it has been proven treatment continues to be effective if you start at age 5….or age 25. ACT has an intervention model for you wherever you and your family are on your journey.

Intensive

Intensive level services are available for families needing over 20 hours a week of 1:1 ABA therapy to make measurable gains in all areas of social and family life.   ACT puts together a comprehensive team for your family and designs all services to meet your child and family’s needs and learning styles. ACT Intensive services can take place in the home, day-care centers, and during community outings. Families typically qualify for 4 years of intensive level services and must have availability during the school day.

Non-Intensive

Non-intensive level services are available for families requiring under 20 hours a week of 1:1 ABA therapy. During the non-intensive treatment model, focus often shifts to areas of highest priority for the family, parent training opportunities and parent participation. Family and ACT staff work together towards increasing your child’s independence and quality of life, both in the home and in the community. Non-intensive services are typically provided for 6 months to 2 years, but that varies based on setting, degree of consistency and clinical appropriateness of on-going treatment.

Requirements for Staffed Services

Developing an effective and individualized therapy program is as important to us as it is to your family.  Appropriate levels of supervision must be maintained to provide quality services and our ability to take on new clients depends on the availability of our staff.  ACT can provide services when 60% of the recommended number of treatment hours occur before 2:30 Monday – Friday for a minimum of one year.  Additional requirements include:

  • Intensive ongoing therapy requires 20-35 weekly hours of availability for services.
  • Non-intensive therapy requires 15-19 weekly hours of availability for services.
  • ACT’s therapeutic services cannot supplant school services.  The only time it is appropriate to shorten the school day for a student is when the student’s IEP team determines a shortened day is required to address the student’s unique disability-related needs.  ACT requires written IEP documentation of the need for a reduced school schedule prior to intake.
