We understand how overwhelming the journey to a diagnosis is. Every ABA program is different. It is important to do your research to find a program that is a good fit for your or your child’s needs. ACT provides services to clients living in Dane County. Additionally, we serve a small caseload of clients in the Columbus/Beaver Dam area.

Most clients receive services in their homes. ACT does have offices in Verona, WI and in Sun Prairie, WI. Services are available at our offices on a first come first served basis. ACT may provide therapy services in a daycare if the daycare center allows our staff to do so. We also may provide services in other community locations as needed to address each client’s unique needs.

ACT does not keep a wait list for services. Interested individuals need to contact the office to inquire about services. You will then be connected with a Director who can schedule a home visit with you to learn more about your or your child’s unique therapeutic needs. In that home visit we will discuss if ACT is a good fit for you or your child. After the home visit, those interested in therapy services should continue to check in monthly to express interest in services. Individuals who check in monthly are kept active on our inquiry list. Openings are offered to individuals who are active on our inquiry list and determined based on how well they match our clinicians’ availability for new clients. Remaining on our active inquiry list does not guarantee services.

ACT does conduct initial Diagnostic Evaluations for children and adults. There are limited spots for these services each month and they fill up quickly. Commercial insurance is accepted for these services. Please see above for a list of in-network insurance providers..

ACT’s goal is for sessions to be meaningful, fun, and engaging for our clients. We believe in compassionate ABA in which our clients are happy, relaxed, and able to demonstrate assent in treatment. We strive to teach skills through play or activities that are enjoyed by our clients. Our sessions are typically 2-3 hours in length. A client’s unique goals are targeted throughout each session in play as well as in short periods of more formal teaching. These formal teaching opportunities may include a mix of learning with video, role plays, flashcards, books and technology. Many goals are focused on each session and are determined by a variety of assessments and interviews. Some examples of goal areas include language and communication development, activities of daily living, social and play skills, attention and focus, and many more. Our staff collect data throughout each session so that our team can be sure our interventions are effective.

An adult 18 or older must be present in the home while services take place. This is often a parent. Parents/guardians do not need to be an active participant in every therapy session. ACT does have family treatment guidance goals as part of each client’s treatment plan. ACT works with families/guardians to schedule times to target these goals in treatment.

ACT does not typically provide therapy services in schools as our funding sources dictate that our therapy services cannot supplant school services. There may be times when ACT can provide services in a school environment such as a private 4K program, a private school, or in a public-school setting with specific school approved and term relevant goals.

ACT can provide services when 60% of the recommended number of treatment hours occur before 2:30 Monday – Friday for a minimum of one year. Additional requirements include:

• Intensive ongoing therapy requires 20-35 weekly hours of availability for services.
• Non-intensive therapy requires 15-19 weekly hours of availability for services.
• ACT’s therapeutic services cannot supplant school services. The only time it is appropriate to shorten the school day for a student is when the student’s IEP team determines a shortened day is required to address the student’s unique disability-related needs. ACT requires written IEP documentation of the need for a reduced school schedule prior to intake.

ACT does not accept new clients with after school only availability. ACT can provide after school only services to current clients who have met our service requirements for at least one year. These services may be provided for 6 months up to 2 years based on individual needs.
ACT does offer social skills and recreational groups during after school hours.

Please contact the ACT office to learn more about current social and recreational offerings. Families who are interested in these groups will be invited to attend “meet and greets” throughout the year to determine if we have a group to best meet the client’s needs.
